This profile for Wagga shows the strength of our local economy has supported a continual increase in population, which is expected to grow at a steady rate of 1.1% per annum.

Rental, hiring and real estate was the second highest grossing industry for the December 2012 period behind public administration and safety.

Our unemployment rate has lowered, and the largest employment sector was health care and social assistance, followed by public administration and safety and the retail trade.

There are approximately 470 retail businesses in operation in Wagga Wagga, employing over 3,000 people. Wagga Wagga is the largest retail, commercial, administrative and population centre in the Riverina region, providing a range of services to an area of approximately 160,000 people.

Wagga Wagga’s workforce is well educated with over half holding qualifications from a certification diploma to a bachelor or postgraduate degree. With so many education and training providers, Wagga Wagga is also well equipped to up-skill workers.

There has been some key commercial and industrial movements at Bomen Business Park and also at the Wagga Wagga Airport.
