The future looks bright for Wagga Wagga with an excess of $600 million in private and public projects in planning and underway in the city. Not only will these major projects improve Wagga Wagga’s infrastructure and economy, it will also boost the number of new jobs in our area.

One of the major projects underway is the $282m redevelopment of the Wagga Wagga Base Hospital, which will provide the community with greater access to a range of health services, increase the number of beds and also create a new mental health facility among other services.

350 jobs will be generated as a result of the Mill development proceeding in Edward Street. This $20 million project will be home to retail shops, a supermarket, conference centre and townhouses.

Other major developments include the $7.1 million Robertson Oval Upgrade, airport upgrade, a new 5 star international motel, Dan Murphy’s development plus a $5 million child care centre at Charles Sturt University (CSU).

Wagga Wagga’s population in 2011 was estimated at 62,871 people. It is predicted to steadily grow by 16,500 people between 2011 and 2031 which is an annual average growth rate of 1.9%.

The future looks secure for Wagga Wagga, with plenty of potential for growth in terms of economy and population. The real estate sector will also benefit from the expected increase in jobs to the city, as an increase in employment opportunities leads to an increase in population and in turn this creates a new demand for housing.

Wagga Wagga City Council released a document in January which outlines the 28 developments – it can be viewed here: http://www.realestatewagga.com.au/documents/WaggaDevelopments2012.pdf
