Buying Your First Home Sooner… Home Buying Workshop Wrap

The Loose-fill Asbestos Deadline is Looming…

August 1 is fast approaching, which is the cut-off to register for free sample testing, so it’s critical that homeowners act on the issue of loose-fill asbestos now.

The NSW Government is considering new laws to protect the community from unknowingly purchasing a property that contains loose-fill asbestos, which, if you do not know the status of loose-fill asbestos in our home, will have certain ramifications when it comes to selling your property.

The Government’s assistance program is your chance to protect yourself from the financial consequences of loose-fill asbestos.

It has been determined that demolition of affected properties and comprehensive site remediation is the best way to ensure the safety of the community – owners who’s properties test positive for loose-fill asbestos have the option to sell their property and/or land to the Government for remediation.

Wagga Wagga has been identified as an area where there may be properties that contain loose-fill asbestos.

If your home was built before 1980, you can register with the NSW Government for a free sample test of the insulation in your home – but registration closes on 1 August 2016.

Register online here, or call 13 77 88.
