Mr Fluffy Loose Fill Asbestos Insulation

30/06/2015

During the 1960s and 1970s, loose fill asbestos was sold as ceiling insulation and used for residential and commercial purposes.
While being mainly sold in the ACT as Mr Fluffy, there are a small number of properties within NSW that have been found to contain it.

The Australian Government has launched an investigation to find out how many homes contain the insulation and Wagga Wagga Local Government Area (LGA) has been found to be potentially effected.

If your home was built prior to 1980, you are eligible for a free property assessment and testing service that will be available until August 2015. This evaluation will identify if your home contains the potentially hazardous material.

If you would like to have your home assessed or require further information phone Service NSW on 13 77 88. So far, over 300 properties in the Wagga Wagga LGA have registered with the service with all of them producing a negative result for asbestos.

If you are thinking of selling your home and it was constructed within this period, we advise you to contact Service NSW to arrange a free assessment.
