Fitzpatricks Foodies | Sally’s Apple Slice


When Sally brought in her homemade apple slice for the Cancer Council’s Biggest Morning Tea, we knew we had to share it with everyone. 

“It’s an oldie but a goodie,” Sally says.  

I think the rest of the office would agree that it’s delicious.  

Whether you want to share it with others or keep it all to yourself, it’s a must-try!  



1 packet vanilla cake mix  

1 cup coconut 

125g margarine/butter  


1 small tin of apple slices (pie fruit)

1 container sour cream  

2 tablespoons sugar  

1 tablespoon lemon juice  

Nutmeg (sprinkle on top) 


  1. Melt butter and mix with cake mix and coconut. Press into slice tray and bake for 15 minutes in moderate oven. 
  2. While the base cooks, mix the ingredients for the topping together. Put on top, add the nutmeg and cook for a further 20 minutes.  

All that’s left is to cut up into slices and enjoy!
