  • Ensure trees are cut back and there are no overhanging branches
  • Check gutters and drains are clean and clear
  • Clean up the yard of any loose items that could become projectiles in strong winds
  • Before a lightning storm hits, unplug electrical appliances not required. Do not touch electrical items or telephones during the storm
  • Ensure your home, contents and car insurance are up to date and adequate
  • Learn how to safely turn off your power, water and gas
